Club Secures High Sheriff Funding for Developing Coaches

The Barnesbury CC has started the year with some fantastic news. Following an application for a grant towards supporting additional coaches, the club has been awarded a £500 grant from the High Sheriffs fund. The grant will reduce the costs of the coaching courses and assist volunteers who want to help coach cycling and develop our youth activity at Gallagher Park, Bedlington. The club is looking to add to the current youth coaching rota to add to the current coaches to assist in developing mid week sessions.

2016 is a big year for the club with Northumberland CC funding a building at Gallagher Park to be completed in May 16. This will allow the club to make use of the current facility more and gain easier access to equipment. If you are interested in coaching, the club is urging you to make contact with the club and the BC coaching Dept.

The photo shows young member Pete Watson collecting the award on behalf of the club with other youths and the High Sheriff. Thanks to Alun Morley for helping Pete get up to the ceremony.

Stephen McIntosh Club Secretary said "The money will be used to help to make the courses affordable, we need to continue to support volunteers to get involved and add to the existing coaches. The club wants to build on the achievements of the past to add a greater variety of coaching on offer at the club."
