Volunteering Opportunity For Our Members to Assist the Club

Following on from the sad cancellation of our road races due to the lack of volunteers,  the club is looking for volunteers to get involved in an event organising committee. The positions will aim to share the work load from the organiser. No event experience is necessary, roles might include. Head marshal, Volunteer co-ordinator, Catering co-ordinator, Prize/Sponsorship co-ordinator, Publicity (to link with Ewa), to name just a few. Persons on the committee don’t necessarily have to commit to all our various promotions in person, but help co-ordinate the support from within/outside the club to meet the demands of the event to make it a successful event which is less stressful for the organiser.

The club is also aiming to provide support for the existing volunteers within the club, it isn’t just about riding your bike and competing. The club needs additional people to get involved with 1st aiding, time keeping (CTT events) and organising of events in 2016. The BC Division is looking at commissaries and accredited marshals to help develop our road racing scene in the North East.

1st Aid Course volunteers required. Opportunity for our members to take advantage of a free course. Members must commit to supporting our club events. We currently have 5 qualified volunteers, so it doesn’t mean you will be asked to do every event! Date to be confirmed, but the course is likely to take place on a Saturday at East Hartford Community Centre.

Anyone interested in organising an event next year? Organisers are required for our Hilly 21 and Open 50 MTT as Ian Bryan has made the club aware he wants to step down from organising next year, and the road races Ballantyne Trophy RR and Border Trophy/Sam Walton Memorial RR. Help and support can be given if you would like to give it a go and hopefully there will be an organising committee established to support new and existing organisers (perhaps it might give someone keen an opportunity to shadow Ian in this year’s promotion of the Open 50 before committing for 2016?).

For further information on any of the volunteer opportunities please register your interest with Stephen at stephen1mcintosh@blueyonder.co.uk. The club is run on a volunary basis for you, so please get involved to help the club grow.
