Club Ride - Sunday 2nd June 2013

The Barnesbury CC will be helping mark our 90th Anniversary by holding a gentle whole club ride on Sunday 2nd June 2013 and riding to Goats On The Roof cafe at Fontburn. Meeting at The Red Lion, Bedlington at 10.00am the ride heads in a westerly direction towards Netherton, turingn right onto Morpeth Rd. Turn left at the garage riding towards Stannington. At Stannington proceed through the village in a westerly direction. Continue on towards Tranwell and then left onto Walton Road proceed towards Bolam Lake turning right in Walton. At junction end turn right towards Hartburn and make way left in village towards Scots Gap. Turn right on main road signposted Rothbury, taking left at Fontburn to cafe. Ride length is about 25 miles to the cafe.
No one will be dropped. It's an ideal opportunity for the fast lads to have a recovery ride, and for the newer riders to ride in a group (possibly for the first time) and get to know some of the local roads and our other members.
On the way back we could turn right out of cafe the left towards Forest burn Gate, Netherwitton and Pigdon towards morpeth and then onto Bedlington and home.
Easier on the way there for the bigger group and more challenging after? Depending on the final group size we could always just take the most direct route back which would be back to Scots Gap then left towards Morpeth.

The ride will be led by Club Coach Stephen McIntosh with Ian Bryan as the 'Lantern Rouge' to ensure everyone gets there and back safely. If any family are friends not in the club would like to ride out, then please feel free to invite them as it is an ideal opportunity to
attract some new members to group riding. Youngsters able to ride the 50 miles will also be very welcome. Please make sure you have the right clothing, drinks and spares as well as money for lunch to make it an enjoyable ride.
