Big Plans for Gallagher Park

Gallagher Park, the Barnesbury CC coaching and off road base has been selected for QE2 status as part of the Queens Jubilee Celebrations and is currently bidding for up to £25,000, some of which will be used to develop a downhill MTB area and skills loop if successful (see cycling feasibility map).

The plans produced by the team responsible for Glentress MTB facility on behalf of Northumberland CC are in response to the local interest in the site for improved cycling facilities close to urban areas.

Stephen McIntosh, Barnesbury CC coach said "the plans are aimed at showcasing what can be achieved on the site for off road cycling facilities. There are no direct funds ring fenced for the development at present. The steering group for the park needs to establish a master plan for all users groups however the plans are a great start. Comments would be appreciated via our website, anyone interested in getting involved in trail-building (if/when required) would also be appreciated.”

The cycling club is leading the way in forging regular activity at the site with the Muddy Monday MTB League and our youth coaching sessions which take place on a Saturday.
