Barnesbury CC along with British Cycling and Paul Woodhall – School Sports Co-ordinator are promoting the first inter school competition for children from the Bedlingtonshire Middle and Primary schools on Thursday 14th June.
Initially four schools have been invited to enter mountain bike teams in the boys, girls or mixed team categories for youngsters attending year 5 and below. The event which will take place during school time at St Benet Biscops High School will have 3 separate races. A team relay, an off road individual time trial and a mass start dirt race to compliment the club’s Muddy Monday Mountain Bike League and draw in youngsters from the local community.
Stephen McIntosh – Barnesbury club coach said “this builds on the coaching we have already delivered within some of the schools, helps develop the amount of youngsters participating in casual bike riding and makes the local community more aware that the club delivers off road coaching every Saturday at Gallagher Park.”
