The racing was enjoyed by all who competed with the under twelves race run on a short flat course in the vicinity of the playground in Gallagher Park, Bedlington.  The Senior and 12-16 year old race ran on a larger circuit starting and finishing next to the playground, but incorporating a noticable climb up the old pit heap.  This had the effect of splitting the race considerably and many riders were lapped.  The race would like to thanks Jim's Cycle shop in Bedlington and McDonald's restaurant in Blyth for kindly contributing to the prize list.  All riders were offered a prize and many riders received multiple awards.  The race was held in quite blustery  and cold conditions, however this did not deter the competitors enthusiasm.  In the senior race Geoff Turner of North shields and the promoting club was clearly the strongest on the day and quickly lapped other compeitors.  The best inter race competition was between Simon Watson and Alan Dunlop a vistor from Scotland riding his first cross race. The two riders battled against each other constantly passing one another.
