Membership
Every keen cyclist should belong to a cycling club. As a club member you will be able to play your part in the greatest game of all. Whether you intend to race or tour or just potter through the lanes on a Sunday morning, you will meet a variety of people with similar tastes to your own and strike up friendships which will remain as fresh as the open road itself.
If you are an unattached cyclist and would like to join a club, why not join the Barnesbury - you would be most welcome. Here are some of the benefits:
- Participation in Open Time Trials, Road Races, Track Meetings and CycloCross.
- Full programme of Wednesday evening confined Time Trials.
- Road race and Time Trial Club Championships (many trophies to be won!).
- Annual Club Dinner and Prize Presentation.
- Club runs, touring and Youth Hostelling weekends.
- Weekly social meetings during the winter months.
- Expert advice and coaching on all cycling matters.
- Legal advice and assistance. Third party insurance.
- Last, but not least, good companionship.
Anyone wishing to become a member of the club should apply through the Club Secretary, Christopher Gray. Either give him a call (01661 871360) or come along to a Wednesday social meeting or a club 10 and you can join straight away.
The annual club subscription becomes due on January 1st each year. The subscription can be supplemented with British Cycling Membership, or the Cyclists Touring Club (CTC), which provides the member with benefits such as free legal aid, third party insurance cover and touring advice. Payment of the annual club subscription also entitles you to participate in Time Trials, under the rules of Cycling Time Trials (CTT). An additional fee is payable to British Cycling (BC) for a British Racing Licence, should you wish to take part in official road races or cyclo-cross events.
